21st Oct: LMS Royal Scot Class 7P 4-6-0 #46100 'Royal Scot' THE BOGNOR BELLE from Littlehampton to London Victoria 1Z50 Pulborough-Billinghurst. Having missed the outward leg (1Z45 from London Victoria to Bognor Regis via Redhill that had some signalling problem at Preston Park) due to my commitment in London this morning, I tried to capture her return-leg. I wanted to see her near Dorking but it would be too dark by then. Royal Scot was working superb at Pulborough climbing 1 in 100 gradient as well as 30 miles (?) speed limit around the station. Shame "Storm Brian" blown away her exhaust. Class 47 #47746 was on the rear.
