18th Jul: Number 9 running in the South. My plan was to capture her at near Reading (Burghfield Road Bridge) but when I got there I found high metal mesh fences around the bridge as well as the masts for the electrification everywhere ! I was in panic (as only perhaps 30 min left) so I quickly drove to M4 (I was not sure if Sounthcote Jn is OK or not) to get beyond Newbury (by hoping the section beyond Newbury may be OK). I did not notice the water stop time at Newbury so I was really in panic mode and I thought I cannot get Crofton. I tried the bridge near Hungerford and actually I found I like this location. LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 #60009 'Union of South Africa' THE CATHEDRALS EXPRESS [White Horses Lunchtime circular] 1Z82 from London Victoria to Salisbury. Class 47 #47237 was on the rear. Kintbury-Hungerford.
