29th Nov: BR Britannia Class 7MT 4-6-2 #70013 'Oliver Cromwell' E+C from Southall WCRC to St Philips Marsh HSTD, 5Z84 Twyford-Reading. Oliver Cromwell's movement to Bristol for her tomorrow's THE CHRISTMAS CHESHIREMAN tour (Bristol-Crewe-Bristol). I thought I would not see steam engines running along the Great Western Mainline after THE CHELTENHAM FLYER by #5043 on 11th May so I was quite excited and drove my car to Sonning Cutting in more than 6 months time. I wanted to capture the train from the Warren road bridge (where I have never visited) but the bridge was completely closed presumably due to some works for the electrification of the line. Considering the time left for me, I quickly made my decision to go to the Duffield road bridge where exactly I was on 11th May. Because UKsteam originally indicated that this movement is D+ECS+E (that recently often happened), I was waiting for the train at the Reading side of the bridge. When I stand up on my step-ladder to check my composition then I saw Oliver Cromwell had already been approaching to the bridge and I recognised that it is E+C not D+ECS+E ! Once I gave up, but lucky enough there was no traffic on the bridge so I challenged to cross the road with my step-ladder and got this shot ! I am more than happy about this shot and no doubt this is one of my very memorable shot.
