7th Mar: SR Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2 #34067 'Tangmere' THE CATHEDRALS EXPRESS from Southend East to Bristol Temple Meads 1Z21 Bedwyn-Pewsey. Tangmere was running nicely along the Kennet Avon Canal at Crofton in a very comfortable early spring day. The first section from Southend East to Southall was hauled by LNER B1 #61306 'Mayflower' and then handed over to Tangmere. I visited Crofton Beam Engines afterwards and enjoyed my time. Many thanks to a volunteer staff who gave visitors (including myself) the engine room tour.
