Very beautiful C53 side view (spoke wheels in particular). C53 is also using the Gresley conjugated valve gear (designed by chief mechanical engineer of LNER Sir Nigel Gresley). C53 were all withdrawn from 1940 to 1950 and C5345 is the sole survivor of Class C53. She was once, in 1961, restored to running condition and ran between Suita loco yard and Takatori prior to her static display at the museum. Now she is a resident in the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum in Kyoto.
